What is it?

The Ontario Home energy audit is provincial government initiative aimed at helping residential homeowners improve their energy efficiency.

What does it cover?

Grants cover:

Attic insulation
Exterior Insulation
Windows & doors
Basement/crawlspace Insulation
Heating & Cooling
Domestic hot water

What is the maximum I can get back?

For individual home owners $5,000 or corporate owners up to $500,000.

How long do I have to carry out renovations?

Homeowners have 18 months from the date of the 1st evaluation to complete whatever renovation they are planning or until March 2011 whichever is sooner.

Homeowners can now apply a 2nd time for the grant, please call for more information.

What properties qualify for the grant?

Properties up to 3 stories high
Properties with a foot print less than 600m2
Row, semi & detached properties, including trailers with a fixed foundation
Commercial or mixed use properties do qualify, properties must be at least 50% residential with no commercial specific equipment

How do I get the grant?

Two evaluations are required to get any grants. The 1st before any work is carried out; the 2nd after the work is finished. Your ecoENERGY advisor does all the paperwork and applications for you; the grants are all tax free.

How much does it cost?

1st evaluation cost: $325 + GST

The province refunds up to $150 of the cost of the 1st evaluation

2nd Evaluations cost $160 + GST
